This statement explains the steps we take to meet our responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
What is modern slavery?
Modern slavery is when someone is controlled, forced or threatened so they can be exploited for another person’s benefit.
It can include:
- forced or compulsory work
- slavery or servitude
- human trafficking
- sexual exploitation
- forcing people to provide services through threats, violence or deception
- exploiting children or vulnerable adults
What is human trafficking?
Human trafficking is when someone is moved, recruited or controlled so they can be exploited.
A person can be trafficked even if they agree to travel. Human trafficking can affect adults and children.
