NHS Essex uses policies to set out clear and consistent ways of working across the organisation. This policy explains how organisational policies are developed, reviewed, approved, implemented and monitored to ensure they remain accurate, accessible and up to date.
The policy helps ensure that all NHS Essex policies:
- follow a consistent format and approval process
- comply with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice
- are clear, accessible and easy to understand
- are informed by appropriate consultation and stakeholder engagement
- clearly set out roles, responsibilities and expectations
- include arrangements for implementation, monitoring and review
The policy outlines the responsibilities of policy authors, managers, committees and the Governance Team in developing and maintaining policies. It also explains the process for reviewing, approving and updating policies across the organisation.
To support accessibility and inclusion, all policies must undergo an Equality Impact Assessment and accessibility checks before approval. Policies are published in accessible formats and alternative formats can be provided on request.
The aim of the policy is to ensure that NHS Essex policies are clear, consistent, accessible and support effective governance across the organisation.
