Local residents in Hadleigh are benefiting from free one-to-one digital skills sessions. These will help them build confidence using technology and accessing NHS digital services.
Hadleigh Library delivered the sessions in January and February. The local NHS, Essex County Council, Hadleigh Library and volunteers from Saffron Building Society organised these.
The sessions have already helped residents download and use the NHS App to order repeat prescriptions and access health records. More support is also given to improve general digital confidence, such as setting up email accounts, using app stores and staying safe online.
Since launching in January, the sessions have been well used. Due to this success, partners are looking at how to expand the model across Essex.
Residents attending the digital skills sessions have given positive feedback. Many said they had more confidence using online health services such as the app after receiving one-to-one support. All those who gave feedback said they would recommend the sessions to others. Some said how helpful it was to have someone guide them through downloading the app and managing services like repeat prescriptions.
“We share a commitment to improving digital confidence in our communities. By volunteering alongside library colleagues, we’ve been able to support residents in building essential skills that make everyday life easier.”
CEO Colin Field at Saffron Building Society
It’s great to see local organisations working together to provide practical support for residents. Improving digital confidence helps remove barriers that are stopping people access services more easily.
Rebecca Harris, MP for Castle Point
Sessions will run in Hadleigh Library on the last Tuesday of each month between 10am-2pm. Find out more by going to Hadleigh Library or visit the Essex Libraries website (opens in new tab).
