Eligible residents across Essex are being encouraged to come forward for their Covid-19 spring booster vaccination to help protect those most at risk of serious illness.
The NHS Covid-19 spring booster campaign for 2026 will begin on 13 April, offering eligible people the opportunity to top up their protection ahead of the summer months.
Who can get the spring booster
The spring booster is available to those at highest risk of severe illness from Covid-19, including:
- Adults aged 75 years and over
- Residents in care homes for older adults
- Individuals aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system
Eligible people will be contacted by the NHS or can book an appointment through the NHS App, online, or by calling 119.
Why the spring booster is important
Protection from previous Covid-19 vaccinations can reduce over time, particularly for those most vulnerable. The spring booster helps to:
- Boost immunity against serious illness
- Reduce the risk of hospitalisation
- Provide additional protection for those with underlying health conditions
Vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and others.
As we move into longer days and warmer weather, we want everyone to be able to go out and enjoy a healthy and happy time with family and friends.
