Emily Hough is the Executive Director of Strategy at NHS Essex Integrated Care Board.
Emily leads work to plan and improve health and care services across Essex. She helps shape the organisation’s long-term priorities and works with partners to improve health outcomes for local people.
She has more than 15 years of experience in strategy, transformation and service improvement across the NHS. Before joining NHS Essex, Emily was Executive Director of Strategy and Corporate Services at NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board.
Emily previously worked for NHS England, where she spent more than three years as Director of Strategy. In this role, she helped support the development of the NHS Long Term Plan.
Throughout her career, Emily has worked on a wide range of national, regional and local programmes to improve health services. Her work has included supporting NHS innovation, helping organisations work together more effectively and developing approaches that address the wider factors that influence people’s health and wellbeing.
Emily has also undertaken international research and leadership development. She was a Harkness Fellow in Healthcare Policy and Practice in the United States and a Senior Fellow at Brown University.
Before joining the NHS, Emily worked as a management consultant. She studied Psychology at the University of Edinburgh.
Emily is currently on maternity leave and will return later this year.
