The NHS in Essex wants residents to help shape the future of digital health and care services in the county.
People in Essex have told NHS Essex that digital tools, such as the NHS App, can be useful. But not everyone can access digital services, and some people do not want to use them.
Now residents are being asked to complete a short, anonymous survey. It will ask what digital tools work well for them, what does not work, and how digital services could be improved.
We have been listening to people’s feedback about how health and care services can be improved across the county. Digital access featured highly in this.

While many people’s experiences are positive, for some people digital-only services can make it harder to get the support they need. People want simple and accessible digital services, support for people who are less confident using technology, and that a face-to-face or telephone conversation is essential for those who cannot easily access online services.
By completing our survey, Essex residents can help us design how we develop the digital future of health and care in the county.
People have told us that the NHS App and online services can work well for them. These include booking appointments and ordering prescriptions.
These services can make it easier for people to get the care and information they need.
But some people have concerns that digital services can make it harder to get care and support. These include:
- finding some digital services difficult to use
- having to use lots of different websites and apps, which can be confusing
- needing more help to use digital services safely and confidently.
NHS Essex wants to hear from people with different experiences of using digital services.
This includes people who enjoy using technology to manage their health and care, as well as people who find digital services difficult or prefer not to use them.
Hearing from a wide range of people will help NHS Essex understand what works well and what needs to improve. This will help us develop our plans for digital health and care services in Essex.
Visit the Essex Virtual Views website to complete the surveyWe would really encourage people to complete this short survey and share their views. This is about how they access health and care in the future and we can’t do that without understanding what this means for people.
