The NHS Race and Health Observatory has created a new report and a set of resources to help the NHS communicate better with Jewish communities.
The report looks at how the NHS can improve communication with Jewish people across England. It was commissioned in 2022 and developed with Intent Health and members of Jewish communities.
The report found that many NHS staff do not know enough about Jewish identity and Judaism. This can lead to misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions. It also found other barriers, including missing information, a lack of trust and worries about safety. These can make it harder for Jewish people to access healthcare and work with NHS services.
The report includes practical ideas to help the NHS communicate better. It also provides resources that have been created with Jewish communities. These can help improve engagement and support people from many different communities.
