About this research
The frailty community asset mapping report explores frailty, falls prevention and support for older people living in North East Essex. It was produced by Healthwatch Essex, Community360 and Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST)
The report looks at how community and health services can help people stay healthy, independent and connected for longer. It also explores issues including loneliness, winter pressures, fuel poverty and reduced mobility.
Researchers reviewed both clinical services and community-based support available across Colchester and Tendring.
Executive summary
The report found that frailty affects more than physical health alone. Many people living with frailty also experience loneliness, social isolation and reduced confidence after illness or falls.
Community support services, warm spaces, exercise groups and local charities all play an important role in helping older people remain independent and improve wellbeing.
The report also highlights the impact of winter pressures, fuel poverty and poor housing conditions on frailty and falls. Many residents said practical support and social connection were just as important as healthcare services.
Key findings
