The Lampard Inquiry is an independent statutory inquiry investigating the deaths of mental health inpatients in Essex.
Prior to 1 April 2026, when the new NHS Essex Integrated Care Board was established, responsibility for commissioning most NHS health services in Essex sat with three Integrated Care Boards (ICBs): NHS Mid and South Essex ICB, NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB, and NHS Suffolk and North East Essex ICB.
These ICBs have been working collaboratively in response to the Inquiry. From 1 April 2026, the new NHS Essex Integrated Care Board will continue to support and engage with the Inquiry.
The ICBs are committed to engaging with the Inquiry with openness and transparency, supporting the Chair’s full investigation, learning from the Inquiry’s findings, and understanding and responding to the needs of people who access mental health services across Essex.
