Tom Abell is the Chief Executive Officer of NHS Essex Integrated Care Board.
Tom leads NHS Essex and works with partners across health, care and local government to improve services for people living in Essex. He is committed to improving health outcomes, reducing health inequalities and making sure services meet the needs of local communities.
Tom joined NHS Essex in August 2024. Before this, he was Chief Executive Officer of NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board.
He has more than 20 years of experience in senior NHS leadership roles. Before moving into integrated care, Tom was Chief Executive Officer of East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. He has also held senior leadership positions in hospital, mental health and commissioning organisations.
Tom believes that the best health and care services are built through partnership working. He is passionate about working with staff, patients, communities and partner organisations to deliver high-quality, sustainable services across Essex. He is committed to improving services for everyone.
