Michael Thorne is the Chair of the NHS Essex Integrated Care Board.
Mike previously served as Chair of NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board, bringing continuity of leadership and experience to the establishment of NHS Essex ICB.
Mike is the former Vice-Chancellor of Anglia Ruskin University, having retired from the role in March 2016 after serving since 2007. During his tenure, he founded the Postgraduate Medical Institute, which led to the ground-breaking and highly successful establishment of Anglia Ruskin University’s Medical School at its Chelmsford campus.
Prior to this, Mike was Vice-Chancellor of the University of East London for five years. He has also served as chair and member of several government committees, contributing to national policy and public service leadership.
