Dr Matthew Sweeting is the Executive Medical Director at the NHS Essex Integrated Care Board.
Matt is also a Consultant Geriatrician at Broomfield Hospital and brings extensive clinical and leadership experience across acute care, system working and quality improvement. He was appointed Executive Medical Director of NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board in August 2023 and has played a key role in supporting clinical leadership and system transformation.
Alongside his executive role, Matt has served as Chair of the Ageing Well Stewardship Group, supporting collaborative approaches to improving care for older people across the system. He is also the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian at the ICB.
Previously, Matt held senior leadership roles including Executive Director at Farleigh Hospice and Divisional Director of Medicine and Emergency Care at Broomfield Hospital.
Matt’s clinical interests include acute frailty care, Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, and the application of quality improvement methodologies to improve patient outcomes and experience.
Matt is married with two lively children, has managed to survive couch to 5k, and is a leader at his local church.
